Appointment of Director
Emerald is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Angus MacAskill (aged 47) as a director of the Company with immediate effect. Mr MacAskill also joins the executive management team of Emerald as its Chief Operating Officer.
Mr MacAskill graduated from Edinburgh University in 1981 with a B.Sc. Degree (1st Class Honours) in Physics. Later the same year he started his oil industry career with Schlumberger, the integrated oil field service company, working on international assignments in Africa for 5 years. He then returned to full time education and graduated from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, in 1987 with an M.Eng. Degree (with Distinction) in Petroleum Engineering.
In October 1987, Angus joined Mobil Oil and, during his 10 year employment with the company, held a number of production, reservoir engineering and managerial posts in London, Aberdeen and Stavanger. During his time with Mobil, Angus also continued his professional development and in 1996 graduated with an M.B.A. (with Distinction) from Aberdeen University.
In 1997, he joined Enterprise Oil and, during his 5 years there, rose to the position of Vice President for Business Development (USA). In 2002, Shell acquired Enterprise Oil and Angus elected to leave and return to UK. Over the next 2 years he provided consultancy services to a number of organisations. In October 2004 Angus was appointed an executive director of Elixir Petroleum Ltd, a position from which he resigned in July 2006 to join Emerald.
Alastair Beardsall, Emerald's Chairman said of today's appointment,
"I am very pleased that Angus has agreed to join us. He brings his skills, expertise and technical leadership to Emerald to further extend the growth that the company has experienced over the past 3 years. Angus arrives as we commence the drilling of Tigris No.1, an exploration well in Syria, and prepare for our winter drilling campaign in Colombia."
